I’m not one for bulky headphones when on the go, but when sent a pair of Monster DNA headphones to review, I thought I’d give them try.
At first glance admittedly I liked the smooth and funky look. The Monster DNA headphones are available in Chrome (Black/Satin), Cobalt (Blue/Light Grey), and Teal (White/Light Grey) making sure you can stand out in any crowd. They’re rather compact due to the fold-up ear pads which make them convenient to store in the supplied drawstring bag.
Another great feature is the detachable cable with 3.5mm earphone jacks on either end, as with most headphones the cable tends to fail over time, leaving you no other choice but to send them in for repair or replace them all together… In this case, you’d simply replace the cable…
They’re also fitted with dual audio ports allowing you to share your music with a friend by plugging another set of headphones into the additional port.
They deliver crisp sound through most of the range but start to distort with the introduction of more bass. This doesn’t really pose a problem as you shouldn’t really be subjecting your ears to such torture.
Overall I found them to be a fantastic and funky little package. But to be perfectly honest, for the R2500+/- price tag it’s a bit steep.
You can order them directly from the sole Monster distributor in South Africa, Phoenix Distribution by emailing email@example.com or by contacting the Johannesburg office at 011 592 9200 or the Cape Town office at 021 487 4640.
