The Jamestown community of Stellenbosch will be hosting their first Strawberry Festival on the 30th and 31st of October in Weber’s Valley Road, Jamestown. The two-day event is an initiative of the local Weber’s Tourism Network in co-operation with members of the Jamestown community, which celebrates their rich agricultural heritage.
Chanene van As, Chairperson of the Weber’s Tourism Network, says: “Our intention is to present this undiscovered ‘magic’ of our people and our beautiful area to the outside world, contributing to Stellenbosch as one of the world’s best tourist destinations.”
Festival goers can look forward to a wide variety of activities and events such as a art exhibition by the local artists, a book launch of Jamestown’s heritage, strawberry-related culinary and craft stalls, a Mr & Ms Strawberry Beauty Pageant, a 5km fun run, live entertainment and a Thanksgiving church service.
The festival will start at 09:00 on the Friday and end at 15:00 on Saturday.
