This fresh and talented electronic rap crew bolted the South African music scene when they opened for Public Enemy at The Assembly in Cape Town in December 2010. Three years, two digital releases and 235 shows later, PHFAT is kicking it up to the next level with the release of their first full length album, Happiness Machines, on 22 July 2013.
The album will be launched from their website, www.phfat.com, free of charge.

A Thousand Limited Edition, 16 page Digibook albums with 17 tracks will be made available for sale from their website, and at a Canal Walk Puma in-store promotion on Thursday, 25 July and at their Cape Town launch show at The Assembly on 26 July.
“All of us feel like this is our first real album. We’ve grown up a lot and we really sound like ourselves more than ever,” says Smooth Mike rapper from PHFAT. Happiness Machines’ music was made with a variety of analogue synths, which is a big departure from their previous work. It presented them with a different way to come up with music.
PHFAT’s previous EP, You are Going to Die, was also made available for free download from their website in February last year. Fans could choose if they wanted to pay for the EP by donating money via EFT, PayPal or SMS. The excitement to get hold of the album was so big that the website crashed on the first day of the EP’s release. Since then You are Going to Die has been downloaded over 13 200 times.
