A love for Hot Rods, custom bikes, Burlesque, old-school and the sights and sounds of the 50’s will again converge at the not-to-be-missed 2nd Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells Rockabilly Festival to be held on the 8th November 2014 at the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch in the Western Cape.
Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells held their first rocking festival in Cape Town in November last year with over 1500 people attending. The entire festival was a highlight with people coming from as far as Germany, KZN and Kimberley just to attend.
While last year’s festival was big, this year’s festival promises to be even bigger and better!
So what’s it all about?
This festival is for all those fun-luvin’ katz who want a break from the big city hustle and bustle for a day.
Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells were inspired to create a platform where all related aspects of Rockabilly culture can be celebrated together – from classic cars, custom bikes and a dirt track to the thrills of the roller derby, fashion to food, and a healthy dose of live Rockabilly music and other entertainment to take festival goers all the way from noon to midnight.
One of the highlights of the 2014 festival will again be the Dickies Dirt Track, where festival goers can register their classic car or custom bike for a ride on a typical dusty track. True rebels will remember the iconic Dickies brand. Born in America as a rough and tough clothing brand, it was adopted by motor-heads who weren’t willing to compromise on style, all while getting the job done
Why should you not miss out?
There will be amazing classic car and bike shows. Entertainment will include live performances from some of SA’s top Rockabilly and Psychobilly bands as well as some of the Best Burlesque performers SA has to offer.
If that’s not enough there will be Bike Polo, a Skateboard park, mountain/dirt boarding and the Cape Town Roller Derby Girls doing a mini bout.
What else is on offer?
Amazing vendors that will include:
– Food trucks
– Bar
– Clothing and Accessories
– Hair & Beauty
– Tattoo artists
– Surfboards
– Cars & motor bikes
– Bicycles
– Skateboards
– Dirt boarding
– Kiddies Area
But there is even more! MAC cosmetics will be giving gals’ the true Rockabilly red lip and eyeliner, while Scar will do the 50’s hairdos to round off the pin-up look for free.
What to do next?
Well, if you love Hot Rods, custom bikes, Burlesque and an all-round retro flava then you absolutely cannot miss out on the coolest event in the festival scene. So all you rebels at heart: put on your blue jeans, come and show off your tats, style your old-school and show ‘em you’ll never conform to the mundaneness of any routine!
