The Distortion of Sound is a documentary focusing on the decline of sound quality in music, narrated by artists who explain the decline of sound quality over the last 2 decades, such as Mike Shinoda, Slash, Kate Nash, Quincy Jones, Hans Zimmer and more.
To kick off the evening, there will be two guest talks starting off with Steven from Wild & Marr discussing the technology behind the M2 monitors. Keith Farquharson will then discuss on of his Freshly Ground mixes and the concepts of how much time goes into the small nuances in the music.
After the talks there will be a screening of the documentary.
Wild & Marr will be bringing in the new M2 mastering monitors from JBL . Join them for a sonic experience in the new s6 studio with these monitors to hear first hand the effects of data compression on music when the quality of the tracks have been diminished through and how technology has changed how we listen to music today. The concept is to play various pieces of music in various formats and quality of the same pieces of music. These formats are from CD, wav and various mp3 compression rates.
There will also be an interactive workshop on the affects of data compression on music and the sonic experience of listening to music.
