The Mother City Prepares for Cape Town Music Week 2015

CPT_Music_Week_2015Between 26 September and 4 October 2015, the Mother City will be united in a week-long celebration of music across a diversity of genres at Cape Town Music Week 2015.

After the success of the soft launch of last year’s event, which included highlights such as a keynote address from the Vice President at Beatport, a live hip hop recording boasting 15 MCs and a live band, the launch party for the Short & Sweet Music Video Awards and the Ikasi Experience Festival in Khayelitsha, this year’s Cape Town Music Week event promises to deliver even more to those in attendance.

Known for its diversity, creativity and burgeoning talent, Cape Town is a hub for music, art and entertainment. Its rich cultural heritage offers the ideal platform for the emergence of music styles ranging from hip hop to classical, jazz, kwaito, electronic music and many other sounds. Cape Town Music Week (CTMW) 2015 aims to harness the collective inspiration, unity, creativity and talent found across the peninsula, through a week of events that put the spotlight on music.

Event highlights for this year’s CTMW 2015 include:

  • Bridges for Music event Langa
  • Short & Sweet Music Video Awards
  • ArtMode
  • African Hip Hop Indaba
  • Breathe Sunshine African Music Conference
  • Rocking the Daisies

This year, the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town in the City Centre will act as the hub for the events, which will be taking place at various city venues as well as in the townships.

As the countdown to CTMW 2015 gets underway, Cape Town’s music lovers, musicians, DJs, MCs and producers will be preparing for what is sure to be a memorable event.
