Beat those winter blues at the first Taste of Tygervalley Wine Festival, a celebration of flavours and tastes which will stop you in your winter cocooning tracks.
With 21 wineries offering their wares ranging from pot-stilled brandy, fortified wines like Jerepigo, Port and Muscadel, right through to some serious Reds and full-bodied Whites, the event will suit every palate and wallet, as most of the tasting items are also for sale to take home.
Participating wineries include; Blaauwklippen Wines, Benguela Cove, Bonnievale Wines, Brandvlei Wines, Diemersfontein, Eagles Cliff Wines, Edgebaston, Groenland, Hermanuspietersfontein, Imbuku Wines, Kingna Distillery, Montpellier de Tulbagh, Montagu Wine and Spirits, Mooiplaas, Ormonde Vineyards, Perdeberg, Peter Bayley Wines, Spookfontein, Triple Three Estate Distillery, Yonder Hill and Zorgvliet.
The Cabernet Franc Interest Group will have a special tasting stand so that festival goers can find out more about this trendy varietal, Wine of the Month Club and Good Taste will share their expertise and to top it all off, chocolates will be part of the pairings and tastings. Some of the specialised tastings will require a small additional fee, payable at the tasting area, especially if you want to experience rare or valuable wines and spirits.
Ticket prices include most tastings, a branded crystal wine glass and a contribution towards a bursary for a local youngster to take the first step towards a career as a professional Sommelier, supported by the South African Sommeliers Association.
