Dawnay
In a career that has spanned over thirty years, Dawnay is a respected artist, a much-loved live performer, songwriter, singer, producer and musician – with the rare combination of drums and vocals remaining his first passion. His first single, “U Touch Me” achieved massive success and paved the way for many follow-up singles – “High … Oops Baby”, “You’re my World”, the solid groove club anthem, “The Real Thing”, “My Baby Tonight” and “Coon Carnival”. He has opened for many international stars and received many accolades including a SAMA nomination for Best Pop Album.
MarcAlex
Brothers born and raised in Soweto, their love of music started at a very young age. Always believing in themselves after many disappointments, created their iconic South African hit song “Quick Quick”, which took them to the top of the charts on all radio stations around the country. They later went on to win an OKTV (now SAMA) award for Best New Comer/Group with this incredible song. MarcAlex then signed to an international label giving them the opportunity to work with the best producers. The brothers spent years performing around the world horning their craft. They took some time out and started a successful management and events company. But, music will always be their first love. MarcAlex have been hard at work writing and producing their first album in years.
The Boyz
Their career started almost 25 years ago and are known as the original Cape Town boy band. Originally consisting of 4 members Anwar Abrahams, Rashaad Voegt, Gafieldien Voegt and Fuad Voegt and in 2000 they welcomed a new member Fagrie Isaacs who brought a new dynamic to the already successful group. They are well known for their massive hit single “Stay the Night” and have shared a stage with a host of international artists, most recently the late great Percy Sledge.
Da Ballies
Prince Akeem and Wilfred Aploon, both born and raised in Cape Town, met on their very first day of school and are still working together after all these years. Amazing accomplishment in this industry. Wilfred and Akeem both started at an early age performing in variety shows back in the day. Both left the mother city to peruse their own careers. They released their massive hit song, “We Going Up and Down” twelve years ago and it’s still playing around the globe. Akeem’s highlights in his solo career include supporting Shaggy on his South African tour and sharing the stage with the great Stevie Wonder in Durban. Akeem was also a member of Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels. Wilfred’s highlights include sharing the stage with Imagination, Brenda Fassie and Percy Sledge, recording his hit song Kalimba Party and was also a member of The Rockets, Cindicate and KCee.
Essential
Formed in 1998, an all-girl group comprising of 3 talented young women, Tina, Kelly and Terri. Essential are well known for their number 1 hit “Give me back my love”. Essential have had the opportunity to share the stage with the cream of South African stars including TKZ, Rasta Rebels, Ricardo, Alistair Izobell, Emo & Boukman Adams, The Rockets.
