Remember when First Thursdays used to be all about the art? Neither do we. Zig-zagging through crowded galleries while trying not to get burnt by cigarettes just to briefly glance at artworks that no one in the room can afford is not everyone’s idea of a good night out. Supporting the local art scene is truly commendable and we’re sure it makes one hell of an Instagram story, but let’s get real.
You’ll start the night off by meeting friends at a bar up the road from some galleries and have some vague ambitions to check out ‘one or two spots’. Before you know it, three hours have gone by and you realise your old-school Vans are yet to leave the bar stool. Most would consider this a missed opportunity, but your night has just started.
