Ten Reasons To Get Revved Up For The Cape Town Motor Show

The Cape Town Motor Show is set to wow the crowds again at GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World from 2-4 March. The show promises a weekend of incredible fun with a broad appeal to all car and bike buffs, petrol heads and the whole family, with loads of entertainment for everyone.

The Cape Town Motor Show will be bigger and better than last year’s successful inaugural event and spans the length and breadth of GrandWest. From amazing giveaways to spectacular displays and extreme activities, we have selected just ten of the many reasons you should be there.

Here are ten things that make the show a must-see:

  1. Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells

A brand new feature this year is the Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells area, where visitors can experience the good old days of Rock n Roll. Here you will see axe throwing, classic cars, café racers, metal shaping by Anvl Kraft, clothing vendors, tattoos, barbers, a bar, food trucks and music. The area will also feature a “Hey Sugar” Kissing Booth raising money for dog shelters.

  1. The Drifting Experience

Be trackside for some wheel-spinning, tyre smoking and sideways action brought to you by XS Promotions. Drift car displays will run all weekend and spectators are welcome to either watch from the sidelines or, for those brave enough, join the experts as a passenger as they take you for the spin of your life.

  1. Wildebeest 4X4 track

The Wildebeest 4×4 Challenge Club will host 4×4 tracks built for all classes of vehicles to challenge technical skills as well as the different vehicle capabilities. Off-the-show-room floor 4X4s, as well as extreme 4X4s, will be showcased, and visitors can purchase tickets to try this out for themselves.

  1. Win a custom-built 70s Ford Model Truck

A lucky visitor to the show will leave with a beautiful custom-built Ford Model Truck. WFI Auto Detailing are currently adding the finishing touches to the late 70s Ford Model Truck that is going to be a blend of old school muscle with a roaring engine and wide body lines, coupled with all the new trimmings one would expect today.

VIP ticket holders get an automatic entry. The draw for the winner will be on the Sunday and you have to be at the Show on the day to take it home if you win. (No under-18s or non-drivers allowed)

  1. Grand Arena

This impressive arena will host the best of the best of the top manufacturers and dealers, showcasing new cars and concepts in South Africa including all the major brands such as the likes of Audi, VW, Shelby, Road to Race, Lexus, Subaru name a few.

  1. Nostalgia

Time travel back to the “good old days’ with vehicles dating as far back as the 1920s. These vehicles are among the rarest and unique in the world. Check out the beautifully restored vehicles and the products that make it possible for these classics to be modified back to their original manufactured or showroom conditions.

  1. Win a Kawasaki Ninja

The name “Ninja” implies the very best that Kawasaki has to offer. In the case of the all-new Ninja 300, it means the power and torque to eclipse everything in its class. That’s what CTMS in conjunction with Mike Hopkins Motorcycles will be giving away to one extremely lucky person over the weekend of the Show. CTMS will draw five finalists each day and on the Sunday, the chosen one will walk away with a Kawasaki Ninja valued at over R70 000!

  1. Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover South Africa will be showcasing their Two Icons Tour. This exhilarating experience will give guests an opportunity to experience Jaguar’s Art of Performance Tour and Land Rover’s Above and Beyond Tour, like never before, in one location.

  1. Chill Zone

When you need a little time off your feet from walking around the many offerings at the show, why not take a load off, put your feet up and grab a cold one whilst listening to the live entertainment. Top local acts will be playing all weekend in the Chill Out Zone.

  1. VIP Experience

VIP tickets are available for those visitors looking experience the show in a luxury setting with all the finest food and drinks, CTMS apparel, a drifting ticket, 4×4 ride, the Ford Model Truck and Kawasaki Ninja entry, and a discount on a waterless car wash by MobeeWash. Rub shoulders with a host of SA’s best comedians and celebrities and enjoy being spoilt.
