Shimmy Beach Club in association with Absolut Vodka and Red Carpet Creative hosted an elegant cinematic experience with the screening of the classic film, Chocolat starring Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche on Thursday evening.
Shimmy Beach Club’s Absolut Bar was transformed into an indoor cinema complete with comfortable couches, heaters, blankets and cushions to provide a warm, cosy setting for the film screening. Guests were treated to a beautiful pink Cape Town sunset over the ocean as they embarked on a nostalgic trip down memory lane while they were served fresh popcorn and watched as their giant candy floss was spun in front of them before being offered Absolut’s take on the classic chocolate milkshake as a welcome cocktail. As everyone snuggled up and got ready for the movie, wood-fired margarita pizzas were served, filling the air with the delicious smell of fresh tomatoes and melted mozzarella cheese. Chocolat, set in a chocolate shop in a little French village, understandably left our guests craving the sweet and smooth taste of chocolate, which was met with a surprise serving of handmade chocolate truffles to end off the evening,
The next installment of Absolut Movie Nights will take place on the 30th of August with the screening of the cult classic, Pulp Fiction directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Uma Thurman, John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson. The film depicts The lives of two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangster’s wife, and a pair of diner bandits which intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption.Amélie, a French romantic comedy film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Starring Audrey Tautou, the film, set in Montmartre, tells the tale of an innocent and naive girl in Paris with her own sense of justice. She decides to help those around her and, along the way, discovers love.

Tickets for the August and September movie nights are available at R260 per person and are available through Nuticket from Friday 6 July. Each ticket includes an Absolut Vodka cocktail on arrival, a margarita pizza and the movie essentials – fresh popcorn and candyfloss.
