Raise a glass to the first Gugulethu Craft Beer Festival

The Gugulethu Craft Beer Festival is taking place at Mzoli’s Meat on October 26th. It’s the first craft beer festival to be held in Gugulethu, with breweries from around the Western Cape taking part, along with producers of cider and artisanal soft drinks.

“People in the area are thirsty for craft beer,” says festival organiser Vuyani Blom. “I think the locals will embrace the festival – people here are bubbly and outgoing and always looking for new ways to spend a weekend. And we couldn’t think of a better place to hold the festival than Mzoli’s – a local institution!”

So far there are seven confirmed breweries; Old Potter’s Brewhouse, Stellenbosch Brewing Company, Little Wolf, Beerworks, Shields Indie Brewing Company, New Age Beer and Darling Brew. There will also be cider from a legendary local producer, Everson’s, and all-natural cola with a local twist from Cape Cola. On the food side, there will, of course, be Mzoli’s legendary shisa nyama on sale to pair with the drinks on show.

The festival takes place throughout the day there will be music from DJ Pono and DJ Mzu – both from the local area.

There will be secure parking nearby, but be sure to bring a designated driver along so that you can enjoy sampling the beers and ciders. Entry is strictly for over 18s.
